About the Course
This interactive fishbowl style panel brings together nurses with two years or less of professional experience to explore the complex transition from nursing education to clinical practice. Panelists will engage in candid, collaborative conversation about the realities of entering the profession, including what supported their growth, the challenges they encountered, and how they navigated power differentials within interdisciplinary teams and clinical hierarchies.
Through the dynamic fishbowl structure, attendees will observe and participate in rotating discussions that highlight diverse perspectives on early-career nursing. Panelists will share practical strategies for resilience, communication, and self advocacy; offer guidance for new graduates preparing to enter practice; and provide recommendations for experienced nurses and leaders seeking to foster inclusive, supportive environments for novice nurses.
This session invites both emerging and seasoned nurses to reflect on the cultural, relational, and organizational factors that shape early professional experiences and to consider leadership approaches that strengthen belonging, safety, and professional identity formation.
